Motion

April 10th, 2012
Today, we have a little comic page I made showing several different techniques of creating the illusion of motion on a flat two-dimensional surface by taking advantage of the mind's ability to fill in the blanks. The first is "cropped image," the cropping of the figures as well as the perspective causes the mind to have assume that the child is rushing towards the view, and out of the panel. "Implied movement" is the next one, the use of space and three-dimensional illusion once again causing a sort of implication in the mind, using memories of the effects of gravity to complete the implied action. Last, "multiple/repeated image" is used in the last one, creating a time lapse effect.
